This course satisfies the requirements of the state of Kentucky
The basic structure is as follows:
0830 - Paperwork and Orientation
0930 - Video on Kentucky
1030 - Video on the Use and Misuse of Force
1130 - Safety in the Classroom, at Home, and on the Range
1215 - Pistol and Revolver Nomenclature
1245 - Principles of Marksmanship
1330 - Cleaning your Weapon
1415 - Written Test and Review
1500 - Range
Here is a brief description of each section:
Paperwork and Orientation - At this time you will fill out your application for CCDW, present your identification, we will go over the process involved in getting your license and the schedule for the day.
Video on KRS - This is a 1 hour video of the Kentucky
Video on the Use and Misuse of Force - This is a 1 hour video on when you may and may not use deadly physical force in Kentucky and the liability you assume therein.
Safety in the C.H.R - This segment covers safe practices in the use, storage, and handling of firearms
Pistol and Revolver Nomenclature - This segment goes over the pieces and parts of both the pistol and revolver and the function of each.
Principles of Marksmanship - Includes the basic stances, grips, sight picture, trigger control, common shooter problems and corrections
Cleaning your Weapon - Each student will be required to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to properly maintain their firearm through field disassembly and cleaning.
Written Test and Review - A 25 question multiple choice test will be administered then reviewed upon completion.
Range - The student is required to fire 20 rounds unassisted at a B-21 target. You must place 11 of 20 rounds into the "black" area of the target from a distance of 7 yards.
Supplies to bring (some supplies can be provided):
Safe, reliable handgun of appropriate caliber
50 rounds factory ammunition
Holster, box, or gun rug to transport
Eye and ear protection
Gun cleaning kit
